ATM ALERT

When a thief forced you to take money from the ATM, do not argue or resist, you ...might not know what he or she might do to you. What you should do is to punch your PIN in the reverse...

Eg: If your PIN is 1234, you punch 4321.

The moment you punch in the reverse, the money will come out, but will be stuck into the machine half way out and it will alert the police without the notice of the thief.

Every ATM has it; It is specially made to signify danger and help. Not everyone is aware of this

Google AdSense adverts no longer allowed on Facebook

There are many advertising companies on the Internet all wanting to offer developers and website owners the opportunity to generate revenue from ads on their sites and services. By far and away the largest and most well-known is Google AdSense, which Google counts as its biggest revenue stream.

Until recently AdSense was allowed on Facebook, meaning any developer wanting to support a Facebook app with adverts could use Google. However, that is no longer the case, and AdSense has been effectively banned from the social network.

In order to be listed as an advertising provider on Facebook, companies has to sign up for the Facebook Platform Terms of Advertising Providers and agree to Facebook’s policies. The deadline for getting on to that list was February 28, and as of today AdSense is not on the list.

The reason AdSense doesn’t feature is not known, but it is most likely down to Google not agreeing to some of those platform terms. The result being it has just lost access to the largest social network on the web and more than 500 million users who visit the site regularly.

While Facebook-related revenue may only be a small portion of Google’s advertising revenue, the biggest losers in this seem to be Facebook developers. According to the forums, those advertisers now listed offer much lower returns on nowhere near enough content to fill the hole left by AdSense’s possibly forced departure

How To Browse On BlackBerry With Globacom ( N400/day available)

If you have a Blackberry device and you wish to browse the Internet with it, then you will have to subscribe for the BlackBerry Internet service via an Internet service provider (ISP). All the ISP has their own different Blackberry Internet plans. Today, I am sharing with you, how you can get connected to the Internet via Globacom Blackbery Internet Service.

As at the time of composing this, Globacom Nigeria offers 3 basic plans for Prepaid BlackBerry users to be able to get connected to the Internet. The 3 plans are highlighted below:

1. Bisday:           keyword= bisday , Access fee= N400 , Validity = 24 hrs , Data Bundle= 10MB
2. BisWeek:      keyword= bisweek , Access fee= N1500 , Validity = 7 days , Data Bundle= 100MB
3. BisMonth:     keyword= bismonth , Access fee= N4800 , Validity = 30 days , Data Bundle= 1GB

Take note of the keywords above. You will need them when subscribing. As at today, it is only Globacom that offers the daily plan.

So, How Do I Activate Globacom Internet Service On My Blackberry?

To browse on your BB with Globacom, make sure Glo has at least EDGE coverage in your location.

To get started, insert your Glo SIM into your BlackBerry device and switch it on. Load the SIM with the amount of airtime you think will be enough for the plan you want to use.  You might not see the EDGE icon, you might only be seeing GSM, DON'T WORRY... keep reading

After loading the airtime, go to MESSAGES  to Compose a new message. Then text the keyword for the plan you want to 777. After sending the text, then you will receive a confirmatory message from Globacom.

After you might have received your confirmatory message, SWITCH OFF your BB, REMOVE THE BATTERY and RE-INSERT THE BATTERY. Then, SWITCH ON your BB. After switching it on,  then you should now see the EDGE written in capital letters. Once you notice this, then you are good to go.

That's all.

NOTE:

Globacom Blackbebry Customer Care hotline is 333
To check your data balance/ usage, text STATUS to 777
To cancel subscription, just wait for the current bundle to elapse and you will not be automatically resubscribed to.
To resubscribe, just resend the keyword or choose a new keyword for the desired package and text it to 777

The 3 plans are above are solely for Blackberry devices but if your phone supports Blackberry services, you can subscribe to the plans too. If you send the activation code and Glo detects that your device does not support Blackberry services, then your money will be refunded.

If you swap your SIM into a non compatible device and later put in back on the original BB device, the service will continue to run as long as the subscription is valid.

I hope this helps...

Google Takes 32% Of Your Earnings

If you haven’t heard the word yet, Google finally released details on how it splits AdSense revenue with smalltime (you and me) publishers. Conventional wisdom was that the split was about 70/30 in favor of the publishers, and that turns out to be pretty close to reality: publishers earn 68% of AdSense for Content earnings.
On the search side, the split isn’t as high. If you use AdSense for Search, you only get 51% of the ad revenue. Google attributes this difference to the higher costs involved in hosting search results on sites other than their own plus all the added stuff you can do with AdSense for Search, such as restricting searches to a specific set of sites, etc.
Revenues for the other AdSense variants have not been disclosed and are apparently subject to change and experimentation as they develop.
Of course, big AdSense publishers have always been able to negotiate revenue share and get access to custom ad formats and other features, and that information is still confidential.
This news definitely interested a lot of publishers. Note, however, that Google doesn’t really mention they’re not doing this out of the goodness of their heart — Italian courts were going to force the issue in Italy, so I guess they figured it was just as well to come out clean across the board.
I will let you decide if the 68% and 51% shares are high enough or not.

How To Send Text Messages @ N5 From Airtel to Airtel Network Instead Of N7.00

Several months ago, when airtel took over from Zain, they brought along fantastic call and sms offers that were very competitive with other networks already on ground such as MTN and Glo. One of the offers was the "2Good" package where airtel users can call and send text messages at very competitive prices.

If you use airtel network and still send text messages for N7 to other airtel networks, then, here is how you can send such text messages for only N5.

I discovered the reality of this after sending a text message to an airtel number for N7 and at other times N5. The discovery is that the only way by which you can enjoy the N5 text messaging/sms rate is when you subscribe to 'Airtel's  2Good Package'. Now, many people do not  know that subscription to 'Airtel's  2Good Package' is to be done on a daily basis before one can enjoy the cheap calls or sms. Now, i am telling you this.

Therefore, to enjoy the N5 sms rate from airtel to airtel numbers, then you should subscribe to the Airtel 2go Package every morning by typing '*446#'. Once you do this, you will be told that 'Thanks for migrating to 2Good...'

DLD11: Google’s Marissa Mayer On Eric Schmidt Stepping Down As CEO

In a panel on ‘Open Innovation’ at the DLD Conference, moderated by Fast Company’s Linda Tischler, Google’s Marissa Mayer was asked about Eric Schmidt‘s transition to a new role at the company, handing over the reins to co-founder Larry Page.
Mayer:
For a long time, Google has been run by a triumvirate, and last week we announced a reshuffling. It’s important to stress that roles have changed, but Larry, Eric and Sergey will continue to lead the company.
There’s been a lot of speculation about this in the press and beyond, but we’re genuinely excited about the changes. Let’s not forget Larry has been CEO of Google before.
Schmidt tweeted something amusing about the reshuffle, saying ‘adult supervision was no longer needed’. It was meant as a joke, but I’m personally really excited to see the more mature management side of Larry.

Larry’s passion has always been products, so he’ll be focused a lot on the technical part of the equation, and execution across the board.
(Other panel members included Beth Comstock, the CMO of GE, Kohei Nishiyama, founder of Elephant Design and Jens Martin Skibsted, partner of KiBiSi.)

Will.i.am Launches Will.i.apps With First 360-Degree Music Video For The Black Eyed Peas

Every major music artist these days seems to have their own iPhone app, but the latest app from the Black Eyed Peas is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The app (iTunes link, $2.99) lets you follow each band member’s Twitter feed with photos, pose the band members in a 3D photo shoot, and even does an augmented-reality trick (when you point the iPhone camera at the Black Eyed Peas’ latest album cover, a character representing one of the band members pops out and shows his latest Tweet in a speech balloon). But what is really original about the app, is the 360-degree music video.
The video for the song “The Time: The Dirty Bit,” puts you in the center of a dance party with the Black Eyed Peas and a bunch of fans. (An iPhone 4 is recommended to get the full effect with no jitters). As you turn around while looking at the screen, you are surrounded by dancers and the band members. You can pan left or right, all while the video is playing. It’s like Google Street View filled with hot dancers, but in video.
“You are submerged and engulfed in a party,” says will.i.am, who spoke with me recently about the app. “You as a director can focus on things behind you.” He thinks 360-degree music videos will become part of many entertainment apps. In fact, he is forming a new company called—what else?—will.i.apps with Edo Segal of Futurity Ventures to create a platform for other artists to create their own 360-degree video apps. (Another Futurity Ventures company called 3d360 developed the 3D video technology). Segal believes that apps in general will become the center of media consumption.
But don’t try to call it just video. “It is so not video” says will.i.am, “that is so 2008. You cannot even compare it to yesterday. It is something brand new.” Adds Segal: “When you think about what a good app should do is put you closer to the artists.”
For will.i.am, these apps represent the future of music: “The concept of an album is dead. What the hell is an album nowadays? This allows artists to add more layers onto that 4-minute song that is audio only. Songwriting changes.” To illustrate this to me, he starts to sing, “as she was walking down the hallway and she seen that little girl and I told her to turn left—you can do all that and turn left—and I look up to the sky and saw the rainbow—you can look up at the sky in the app. You couldn’t do that yesterday, it was linear. Now it is directional. If I knew we were going to do this app when I wrote the song, I would have wrote the song totally different.”
Now he can put his fans in the music videos right alongside him, putting them in the center of his world. Here is a promotional video showing the app in action, and below are screenshots.
